Hello folks!

Hello,

and welcome to my blog that will mainly contain drifting from scandinavia and the baltic countries and some car presentations and driver interviews from around the world!

This picture is of me driving my dear ex-jzx100 chaser.

So who am i exactly?

My name is Kimmo Blom, i´m 27 years old and live in the southern part of finland.

I was first introduced to the fine sport of drifting back in the 90´s when i still was underaged and still had a long wait for my drivers license through some internet videos. :)

Then i forgot all about drifting until when i turned 21 in 2004 when i got a DVD of the first D1GP event in USA from a friend of mine. And at the time i was deeply impressed about all the good looking cars and the burning rubber those were the only things i knew about drifting back in the days. I kept on watching the DVD on a daily basis for 2 months just to try to learn something, since ive been a car hobbyist ever since i was 16 probably, but that was a bit hard just from a single DVD so i got a bit put away that i would never be able to do similar things the guys on the DVD were doing.

But then in 2005 i started working for a company here in finland that was organizing car shows and most importantly DRIFT EVENTS & TRACK DAYS! From the first Drift event i participated as a part of the organizers crew i decided i want to start drifting too. I kept working for the organizer to get to know some of the drift guys here in finland!

Took a while before i first got to try drifting for the first time but eventually the time came. One beautiful day in 2007 i just got the courage to ask one of my (now) good friends, Staffan Wester, if i could try his car on the Alastaro circuit and i was quite surprised when he told me i could have a go in his R32 GT-R (modified to RWD). And there it all started and people started trusting me and i got to try more and more cars and up to the autumn of 2008 i had tried all of these cars, R32 GT-R&GTS-T, S13 silvia&200sx, s14 silvia&200sx, so i had tried a lot of cars and decided that the following year it was time to get a drift car from japan.

2009 came and me and Jenni (my girlfriend) went to Japan in february to meet up two of the wackiest british guys there is ( more text and pics about that in a later post). And got myself this:

s14,5 with minor mods. However i ended up selling the car before it left japan and purchased the JZX100 chaser featured in the first pic of this post! And it arrived late August 2009 so the season was long gone when i got it so i only managed to drive it on 1 track day:

2010 was a different scenario since we had all winter to build it so i had a pretty successful first season in the chaser finishing third in the Radalle.com Street series.

But i felt the chaser too big and clumsy wanted something else to drive around so i exchanged the chaser for this:

an AE86 Corolla Levin with a CA18DET engine producing around 300bhp.

next post is going to be all about the corolla so remember to tune in for that aswell!

thanks for taking the time to read a long introduction post and please tell your friends about me too :D

I´ll leave you waiting for more with this nice picture taken by my dear friend Juhapekka Haapoja (you will be seeing loads of his pics in my blog)
